MISERY INDEX
We are excited to introduce another headliner of this volume to you. Misery Index is a band that has our deep respect both due to the music they play and the DIY ethic they stick to!!! Misery Index are going to release a new album called Heirs To Thievery in May and this year OEF show will be an exclusive one. You will not see them anywhere else in Europe during the summer fest season!!!

The music of Misery Index combines the most intense elements of metal with a distinct grind approach, added with a touch of hardcore and extreme punk attitude and passion, thus pushing the limits of metal with an insane mix of regressive thrashing rhythms, corrupting breakdowns and energetic ferocity. Misery Index sets no limits in their goal of making metal and grind flow together in boundless punishing assaults designed to modernize the classic death and grind metal of the early 90’s, drawing influence from Brutal Truth, Disrupt, Morbid Angel, Napalm Death, Terrorizer, His Hero is Gone, Bolt Thrower, Assuck and Entombed.

The imagery and lyrical concepts are also very critical to the band, and one can expect that in the true nature of the genre, Misery Index will catapult their ideology and anger to the forefront, and shove the sickness and hypocrisy of this planet right back in the face of all who so quietly accept the status quo…and have fun at the same time.

La Raza hits the charts in the US, Canada, and Germany!

AGOURA HILLS, Calif. – March 24, 2010 – Los Angeles California’s ARMORED SAINT has entered the Billboard charts with La Raza, the band’s latest and first release since 2001’s Revelation. La Raza debuted at #49 on the Hard Music Albums Chart, #18 on the Heatseekers chart, #52 on the Top Independent Albums chart, and #2 on the Hard Music Core Stores chart. ARMORED SAINT´s La Raza also entered the official German album Charts coming in at #96! Congrats to the boys and the first German Chart entry in their career! In addition to hitting charts in both the US and Germany, the band also entered the Canadian charts coming in at #85 on the Independent chart!

La Raza is the band’s first album since Revelation in 2000 and their sixth in total. The album’s foundation was laid back in 2008 when Joey Vera and John Bush began writing new material for what would become La Raza and the album was completed in December at Tranzformer Studios in Burbank, CA. The album was produced by bassist Joey Vera, and engineered by Bryan Carlstrom and his assistant John Nuss. Recording was mostly done with analog equipment and the final album mix was delivered on 1 inch tape. This gives La Raza the most organic sound as possible.

Joey Vera comments on the packaging and creative aspect of La Raza: “Metal Blade is doing a really cool digi-pack package for us. We felt like the city of Los Angeles is such a big part of our fabric that we wanted to use that in the design of the artwork. So with the help of our good friend and photographer Stephanie Cabral and Brian Ames from the Metal Blade art department, we came up with a really cool package that represents our band and the music on this record. We also wanted to incorporate a green action by leaving out the plastic CD tray and using recycled paper. The result is a classy and poignant package.”

La Raza track listing: 1. Loose Cannon
2. Head On
3. Left Hook from Right Field
4. Get Off the Fence
5. Chilled
6. La Raza
7. Black Feet
8. Little Monkey
9. Blues
10. Bandit Country

ANNIHILATOR’S JEFF WATERS INTERVIEWED BY EPIPHONE; VIDEO AVAILABLE
JEFF WATERS, guitarist and founding member of Canadian thrash metal pioneers
ANNIHILATOR, has been interviewed by guitar manufacturers Epiphone about his
illustrious career and his new Epiphone Annihilation-V signature model
guitar.

JEFF WATERS is widely recognised as one of the most influential metal
guitarists of all time, and was ranked third in Joel McIver’s 2009 book,
“The 100 Greatest Metal Guitarists”.

Read part of the interview below for JEFF’s tips on gear and playing:

EPI: Any advice for younger players trying to find their way?

JEFF: Listen to LOTS of guitar players in lots of styles of music. For young
musicians, practice the song Chemical Warfare by Slayer, Creeping Death and
anything off of Puppets/Kill ‘Em All. That will get your rhythm hand fast
and tight. For solos, try to listen to as many metal guitar players as
possible… Listen to the ’80s players to get more of an original influence.
The ’80s were the time when the greats were producing brilliance! Also, on a
personal note, stay away from alcohol, drugs and cigarettes… If you want a
long career… Or a long life! These days, to have a career at all means
that you need to learn the business and take care of your business; you
cannot do this if you are cloudy in the mind or dying from lung disease.

EPI: Any advice on gear?

JEFF: Just have fun and try lots of things out at your local music store. As
far as amps… If you have some money, try the Hughes and Kettner Coreblade.
If you don¹t, there are a lot of good, lower-priced amps out there. I will
say though… My new Epiphone Annihilation-V is very reasonably priced. It
took me 2 years to design and create it with Epiphone because we wanted the
best guitar possible at an incredible value.

EPI: How close are the production models to what you play?

JEFF: The same guitars you can buy in the music store are the EXACT same
guitars I use live. No other company I know has done this, at this price
level.

EPI: 2 years is a long time developing the Jeff Waters Annihilation-V
Signature model. How do you think it came out?

JEFF: Fantastic! I could ramble on about how great the guitar is but I think
the best way to answer this is to simply see the video that is on the
Epiphone web site… That will speak for itself. You must see it to
understand what I mean!

“Romeo Delight”. The album is due to be released in Europe by Earache
Records on 17th May.

ENFORCER PREVIEWS TRACK FROM “DIAMONDS”
Swedish heavy metal powerhouse ENFORCER return with their highly anticipated
sophomore album, entitled “Diamonds”, to be released in Europe by Earache
Records on May 24th and the rest of the world on Heavy Artillery Records on
May 25th. For a taste of what they can expect from the upcoming album, fans
can preview the track ³Midnight Vice² in its entirety at:

http://www.myspace.com/heavyartilleryrecords

“Diamonds” picks up where its predecessor left off; with a pure old school
heavy metal album of the highest caliber, this time showcasing a broader
range of talent and metal influences highlighted by the production wizardry
of renowned Swedish producer Rikard Lofgren.

With the release of their debut album “Into the Night” in November 2008,
ENFORCER kicked open the floodgates for the return of traditional heavy
metal, paving the way for many other young bands to follow. With critical
acclaim pouring in from fans and the international music press, ENFORCER
wasted no time taking their show to the road for their first European and
American tours as well as a litany of appearances at many of Europe’s most
highly regarded festivals.

After the release of their debut album, many fans and critics were left
wondering if ENFORCER could ever top or even equal their work on Into the
Night. Proving themselves more than up to the challenge, ENFORCER emerged
from the studio in February 2010 with their latest metal masterpiece, aptly
entitled “Diamonds”. ENFORCER will be embarking on ³The Power of Metal Tour²
in Europe with Steel Wing and Cauldron from May 1st to May 15th.
